p226 [To the same.] [From the French.] L Favez, The more I look into infidelity, the more, by grace, I am attached and cleave to the simple truth; the more I love it in its simplicity. The more I value revelation, as revelation, and the goodness of God which has given it to us – but I value yet more than any means of receiving the truth the precious Saviour who is the subject of it – and that in all its simplicity, receiving it as a little child – the more I desire to be a little child; and I am ever seeing more that one must be such if God speaks. It is my joy to be a little child, and to hear Him speak. I may add, that the perfection of the word, its divinity, ever develops more to my heart and understanding.
